Marigold Cottage Garden was open for the National Garden Scheme in association with Japan 400 on April 27th and 28th.  It is an English seaside garden with Japanese and Oriental influences as the gardeners lived and worked in Japan for many years.  Entrance is through a Japan inspired sliding gate.  The garden has stone lanterns and torii gates.  There are winding back paths, clumps of bamboo, a stone water trough and a reflexology path.  The vegetable garden grows Japanese shiso and daikon in season.  Teas were served in Mashiko mugs and plates.  Many other Japanese pottery artefacts such as sake sets were on display.  The garden had banners and the house was adorned with ikebana.

Faye Bentley was the Artist in Residence at the garden.
