The Clove“We had newes of two China Iunckes arived at Langasque laden with suger; by him wee vnderstood that the Emperour of China had then latelie put to death about 5000 persons for tradinge out of the Countrie, contrarie to his edict, confiscatinge all theire goodes; Notwithstandinge hope of proffitt enticed these men to put it in hazard, having bribed the newe Pungauas and Oficers vppon the seacoste, which vppon the execution of the former, were placed in theire steedes.”
