Professor Timon Screech received his BA from Oxford and his PhD from Harvard, and he also studied at Gakushuin and Keiô. He is Professor of the History of Art and Head of the School of Arts at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in the University of London. He has published some dozen books on Edo visual culture, and his field-defining work, Obtaining Images: Art, Production and Display in Edo Japan, was published in 2012.
Professor Screech is currently working on the history of the English East India Company and is co-chair of the Japan400 Organising Committee.
