“The group on stage are experts at what they do, and what they do is send a beautiful, thumping rhythm through the whole auditorium.” – The Pickled Egg (essential what’s on guide for Ilkley)

kaminari drummers 011Kaminari UK are a Taiko (Japanese drumming) group from York who both compose their own contemporary pieces and play traditional Japanese pieces. All of our members and guest performers are British, although a few of us have been taught our techniques and skills in Japan.
We play live shows to bring the energy of Taiko and an element of Japanese culture for the British public to experience. Both the poets reciting the Tanka poetry and guest musicians on koto, shamisen and shinobue add to the feel and cultural aspect of out Tanka and Taiko show.
