Japan is the world’s third largest economy and one of the largest investors in the UK and the EU. In addition to playing a leading role in major international forums, Japan is a vital strategic partner for the UK and EU in Asia.
This conference will explore whether existing frameworks and institutions for regional and global governance are adequately suited to address the world’s key economic, environmental and security challenges. What role could Japan, the UK and the EU play in maintaining or enhancing these institutions? The conference will explore views and approaches towards East Asia from Japan and the UK to determine where interests converge or diverge.
