Public 2-Day Seminar on Energy Policy, Media Representations, and Public Perception of Nuclear Power after the Fukushima Disaster

The Welsh School of Architecture and the School of Psychology are delighted to present a 2-day seminar at Cardiff University, bringing together academics from the UK and Japan in the area of energy policy, media studies, and risk perception.

The main aim of the seminar is to discuss how Fukushima has changed debates on the future of nuclear power in Japan and the UK, and the role of public opinion and media reporting therein. The two-day seminar will include sessions on the following topics: (1) Perceptions of nuclear power, (2) Risk communication, (3) Disaster reporting in
the media, (4) Public responses to legacy and social media, and (5) Changes in climate and energy policies after Fukushima.
