Noh Teacher Akira Matsui, of the Noh Kita School, and Living National Asset, will visit from Japan to conduct workshops to learn Noh singing & dance, the kiri section of “Matsukaze”. During the workshops, you will also receive an introduction to Noh instruments (nôkan flute, ôtsuzumi and kotsuzumi hand-drums, and the taiko stick drum).
There will be a series of four workshops. Please note different Venues.
Workshop 1: 6 March 7-9pm at SOAS, Room B111 (Brunei Gallery)
Workshop 2: 7 March 10am-4pm at Daiwa Foundation Japan House, 13/14 Cornwall Terrace, London NW1 4QP (nearest station – Baker Street)
Workshop 3: 8 March 10am-4pm at Daiwa Foundation Japan House, address as above
Performance: 8 March 6.30pm of Akira Matsui’s shimai, the kiri section of “Matsukaze”.
