The ‘Perry Scroll’ is a remarkable handscroll painting showing a vibrant pictorial record of US Commodore Matthew Perry’s momentous second visit to Japan in 1854. The painting records a later major event in Japanese relations with the wider world. The handscroll will go on display from 17th April in the Mitsubishi Corporation Japanese Galleries
