Stephen Friedman Gallery is pleased to announce it will be presenting Jiro Takamatsu’s first ever UK exhibition.
As a key member of the Hi Red Center in Japan in the early 1960s, Takamatsu’s early work sought to remove the boundaries between art and life and his considerable influence over his lifetime extended as an artist, theorist and teacher in Japanese
postwar culture. The exhibition will traverse multiple media including painting, sculpture, photography and installation including an important group of works on paper and a selection of his renowned ‘Shadow Paintings’
